Here, I’m going to describe 10 unbelievable facts about Pakistan that only a few people know. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan came into being on the 14th of August, 1947 after years of efforts to attain independence from the Hindu-British rule in the Sub-continent. Till now, Pakistan has developed a lot and now has a considerable impact on the world.
Now, let’s enrich your mind and with the details of these ten points!
10. Amazing Geographical Location
Pakistan is a Muslim country located in south Asia, sharing its borders with China, India, Afghanistan, Iran and the Arabian Sea. Its important geographical location is a major attraction for developed economies to invest in for lucrative returns. Pakistan extends from 24° to 37° N latitude and from 61 ° to 75°E longitude. It is a very important country due to its geographical location. Pakistan is a junction of south Asia, west Asia and central Asia. Pakistan has a vast amount of plains and plateaus including coastal areas, upper and lower Indus plains, the Baluchistan Plateau, Salt Range and Potwar Plateau.
Countries like Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kirghizstan are located in the north of Pakistan and are completely surrounded by dryness, but are rich with natural resources. Pakistan has developed religious, cultural and commercial relationships with these Islamic states. Pakistan provides the shortest sea route to the central Asia countries.
Thanks to its geographical location, the people of Pakistan enjoy all four weather in one year. It has all kinds of landscapes like deserts, forests, mountains and beaches. If the government takes measures and makes these places easily accessible, Pakistan can be the next Switzerland. Northern areas like Naran, Kaghan, Swat valley and thousands more glorious looking places make Pakistan one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
There’s a lot more about the geographical location of Pakistan, but it cannot be all mentioned in a small paragraph. Let’s get to the next point!
9. The only Islamic State Nuclear State
Pakistan is the only Islamic state having Nuclear Power up till the present date. Pakistan is an Islamic state with nuclear weapons thanks to Abdul Qadeer Khan. He is a Pakistani nuclear physicist who made Pakistan the very first Islamic state equipped with nuclear weapons. He is known as the “Father of Pakistan’s Nuclear Bomb.” He is known for Pakistan’s nuclear weapons program, gaseous diffusion, martensite and graphene morphology.
Pakistan had to improve its defense ability due to the aggressive neighbors like India and had to create a “Balance of Power in the Region” or to be under the continuous threat of violence.
8. History full of Heroes and Struggles
Pakistan has a great history full of heroes and their struggles. From Muhammad Bin Qasim to Quaid-e-Azam, can be seen. Mughals, Afghans, Khalji Dynasty and modern day Pakistan, are all the results of heroic deeds of Muslim heroes. One of the recent great heroes of Pakistan’s history is Quaid-e-Azam, whose real name was Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He is also known as “The Father of Nation”. He was the person who fought with the British and Hindus. And founded a country, known as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. And he is not the only one who struggled for this state, but there are thousands more. For instance, Allama Iqbal, Fatima Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Chaudhary Rehmat Ali, Sir Aga Khan and etc.
We cannot at all forget the efforts and sacrifices of the Muslims living in sub-continent at that time. There are thousands of heroes that are not even known by history. May God bless them all (Ameen). After the end of the Mughal Empire, British took over sub-continent. In 1857, Muslims and Hindus allied to fight against them. They started a war against them and called it “The War of Independence.” But sadly, fate wasn’t in favor. British won the war with its armed force and the dark era of Muslims began. Hindus were successful in making the British think that the Muslims had a bigger hand in the war of independence.
As a result, Hindus came closer to the British and Muslims were oppressed. Muslims were a minority in the sub-continent. Muslims were still in the fanciful pride thinking about their rule and Mughal Empire. They thought that Muslims are still powerful, they were not ready to face the truth.
As a result of this pride, the British oppressed the Muslims and a Hindu-British rule took over. This pride of Muslims also refrained them from studying the modern language. Atlast, some heroes took action and started making Muslims realize that how much of a big mistake they had made. They were 50 years backward in studies than Hindus. Some movements like Aligarh and Caliphate (Khilafat) Movement also started. A lot of time, blood, effort and hard work that every sincere Muslim spent, did not go in vain and an Islamic state, called Pakistan came into being.
7. Site of settlement for the Indus Valley civilization
Pakistan has a bigger part of the place where one of the world’s first civilizations settled. They started living on the bank of the Indus River. Its ruins have been found in Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa and Taxila. The meaning of Mohenjo-Daro is “City of dead people”. It was given this name because when the ruins were found, there was a house-like structure with hundreds of human skeletons and skulls in it. No one knows why and how this happened. Rumors say that this was the doing of Aryans. Several attacks by the Aryans on the Indus Valley Civilization are confirmed by historians.
The religion of Indus Valley Civilization has not been confirmed to this day. But when Aryans invaded them, they found temples with idols in them. They also found some books with some things written in it. They started to follow the book and later they separated into groups, which is now known as the strict cast system of Hinduism. Aryans made a religion, called Hinduism. People to this day go and visit the ruins of Indus Valley Civilization. But it is still a mystery to be resolved; how they ended? Did Aryans kill them? Did they start living with another civilization? Was there a natural disaster? No one knows for sure.
Pakistan is full of historical structures and ruins. The most famous of them is the Mohenjo-Daro.
6. Land of Cultural Diversity and Traditions
Pakistan is a country with great culture and traditions. The culture of Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fascinate tourists a lot. The culture of Sindh is the unique-most in my opinion. Their dresses, hats (ajraks) and other traditional stuff are very interesting. The people of Sindh speak Sindhi as their local language, and Urdu as their national language. They are very hospitable and kind.
The culture and traditions of Punjab are also very well-known. The people of Punjab are considered to be the most hospitable people around the globe. They feel proud to treat tourists and even locals as their friends and family members. Their main dress is Shalwar kameez. Punjab is a land of burning deserts, big forests, plains, snow-topped mountains and five big rivers. The word Punjab means “The Land of five rivers”.
Then comes the culture and heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). It is to be noted that the culture of Gilgit Baltistan is very similar to KPK. In fact, KPK and Gilgit Baltistan were the same province at one time but then were divided. KPK is the land of Pathans. Pathans are very religious people. They are strong, patriotic, polite, hospitable and compassionate to everyone.
The culture and heritage of every province in Pakistan is very unique with some similarities.
5. World’s Highest Paved Road (Karakoram Highway)
Pakistan has the world’s highest paved road, which is called the Karakoram Highway. It has given this name because it passes through the Karakoram Mountain Range (this mountain range is the home to the world’s second highest mountain peak, K2. Also known as Karakorum 2.) The maximum height of this highway is 4,714 m (15,466 ft) near Khunjerab Pass. Due to its high elevation and the difficult conditions in which it was constructed, it is often referred to as “The Eighth Wonder of The World”.
The Highway is also known as “China-Pakistan Friendship Highway” because it connects Pakistan with China. The highway connects the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhaw (two provinces of Pakistan) and Gilgit Baltistan (province of Pakistan) with Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. The highway is 1,300 km (810 mi) long. It starts from Hasan Abdal (city located in Pakistan) to Khunjerab, Gilgit Baltistan (province of Pakistan). Here, it enters China.
The major towns and cities that this highway connects are: Islamabad (Pakistan), Rawalpindi (Pakistan), Abbottabad (Pakistan), Kohistan (Pakistan), Gilgit (Pakistan), Upal (China), Tashkurgan (China), Kashgar (China) and many others. Karakoram Highway in Akto Country, Xinjiang (China) Karakoram Highway ahead of Juglot, Gilgit (Pakistan).
There are a ton of more facts and information about the Karakoram Highway, but all of it cannot be mentioned here.
4. Second Most Beautiful Capital of the World (Islamabad)
With a population of 1,129,000, Islamabad stands on the second position in the list of 10 most beautiful capitals in the world. Islamabad lies in the Potohar Plateau. It was also the plateau where Indus Valley Civilization lived. The name of the city “Islamabad” means “The City of Islam.” Its foundation was laid in 1960 and was announced as the new capital of Pakistan on 14 August 1967. It is the second capital of the country (the first capital was Karachi but it was changed because it was always at high risks of attacks and natural disasters like tsunamis). Before it was made the capital, it was called “Potohar region”.
The climate of the city is humid subtropical and just like the most of Pakistan, this city also enjoys all four kinds of weather. The natural beauty that lies in its natural scenery is incomparable. It bewitches everyone who visits it. It is also not only surrounded by high lush mountains but there are cascades as well to make it more attractive. Also, it has a mountain region called “Margalla Hills”.
The places that people recommend to tourists are Lok Virsa Museum, Rawal Lake, Faisal Mosque, Pir Sohawa, Islamabad Zoo, Pakistan Museum of National History, the Centaurus Mall, etc. It has a twin city which is called Rawalpindi. Together with it, their population is almost 4.5 million.

1. World’s deepest seaport (Gwadar Port)
Gwadar Port is known as the deepest seaport in the world. It is located in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. What is the benefit of a deep seaport? The depth of water helps get them access to the deep-water ports. Regular ports are by and large of recreational types where the water is not more than 20 feet deep, whereas deep-water port is compatible with the large heavy loaded ships which may require the water to be 30 feet deep or even more. Gwadar port is the best choice for ships like that as it is the deepest seaport. This port is significantly important in carrying sea route trade of South-Asia and the world.
